Madden’s Clarendon Mineral Waters Poster features a historic Irish mineral water advertisement associated with Clarendon Springs in Derry. The advertisement design dates from the late 1800s or early 1900s, when mineral water advertising was commonly seen in pubs, grocers and licensed premises across Ireland.

This poster was printed in the 1980s by Nicholson & Bass, Belfast, using lithographic printing and supplied to pubs as décor. It is original surviving print stock from that period, not a modern reproduction. Remaining stock is finite. The historic advertisement artwork includes the imprint of P & S Limited, Leeds, visible at the lower right of the design.

These advertisements once appeared in pubs and spirit grocers across Ireland. This poster is a later print, produced in the 1980s and supplied to pubs as décor.

The original Madden Mineral Water factory building still stands at Clarendon Springs in Derry, Northern Ireland. Built in 1900, the Queen Street premises retains the original “Madden Mineral Water Co.” stonework on its exterior façade.
