• Clarendon Spring Mineral Waters Poster features artwork from original Irish mineral water advertising designs dating from the late 1800s and early 1900s. Mineral water advertisements such as this were once commonly displayed in pubs, grocers and licensed premises throughout Ireland.

  This poster is original 1980s print stock produced from the historic advertisement artwork and printed as a lithographic poster. The original print carries the stamp of P & S Limited, Leeds, visible at the lower right corner of the design. These posters were supplied to pubs across Ireland as décor and are not modern reproductions. Remaining stock is finite and increasingly scarce.

  

  Seen in Irish pubs and homes worldwide, this Maddens Mineral Water poster is pictured in The Squealin’ Pig, Muff, Inishowen, Co. Donegal.

  These advertisements once appeared in pubs and spirit grocers across Ireland. This poster is a later print, produced in the 1980s and supplied to pubs as décor.

  Irish mineral water advertising became part of the visual character of traditional pub interiors throughout the twentieth century. Designs such as Clarendon Mineral Waters combined strong commercial branding with the bold typography and decorative style associated with historic Irish public houses.

  Today these posters are widely recognised from Irish pub walls and are popular for home bars, hospitality interiors, Irish-themed spaces and collections focused on historic Irish advertising and pub culture.

The original Maddens Mineral Water factory building still stands in Derry, Northern Ireland. Built in 1900, the Clarendon Springs premises retains the original “Madden Mineral Water Co.” stonework on its exterior façade.
