McKibbin Club Liqueur Whisky Poster

An Irish whiskey advertisement design from the late 1800s, promoting McKibbin Club Liqueur Whisky of Belfast, produced by John McKibbin Club & Son Ltd., established in 1871.
Printed in the 1980s by Nicholson & Bass, Belfast, using full-colour lithography, this poster comes from an original print run — not a modern digital reproduction. These prints were produced in limited quantities and supplied to pubs as décor. When this stock is gone, it is gone.
These advertisements once appeared in pubs and spirit grocers across Ireland. This poster is a later print, produced in the 1980s and supplied to pubs as part of their décor.
Featuring the memorable slogan “Not a Headache in a Hogshead”, this design captures the bold and characterful style of Irish whiskey advertising in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
Created by William Strain & Sons of Belfast and London, this artwork reflects the spirit of traditional Irish advertising.
William Strain & Sons became known for creating many such advertisements for distilleries at that time. Other designs in this collection, including the Cowan’s whiskey poster and the Donard Dew Old Irish Whiskey poster, were also created by William Strain & Sons.
Perfect for:
- Home bars and kitchens
- Irish pubs and restaurants
- Collectors of Irish advertising
- Those with a connection to Belfast or Irish heritage
